Andor Health Collaborates with Mentor to Deliver Next Generation, AI-Powered Virtual Experiences with Microsoft Technology

ThinkAndor™ revolutionizes virtual health with AI virtual assistant and full clinical system integration for meaningful, frictionless patient and provider experiences for Mentor customers

ORLANDO, Florida – September 30, 2020 – Andor Health, and Mentor Worldwide LLC have formed a collaboration to provide the aesthetic physician community with the next-generation virtual health experiences to enhance the relationship between a surgeon and their patients.

As part of the initiative, Andor Health will use Microsoft Azure and its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to provide innovative ways to enable virtual health visits, delivering frictionless, enhanced provider and patient experiences in a sustainable way. The importance of this initiative was heightened as the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the ability of plastic surgeons and their practices to safely connect with their patients.

ThinkAndor™, the AI-powered platform for healthcare institutions, uses Azure AI and Microsoft Teams to help configure pre- and post-visit patient experience while the AI virtual assistant delivers relevant clinical content from the electronic health record (EHR) in the virtual health session. The result is a frictionless, engaging and positive virtual interaction allowing physicians and patients to communicate more efficiently.

Using Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Machine Learning, the ThinkAndor platform improves the delivery of virtual care in a number of unique ways, including:

  • Securely bringing patient and clinical context from source systems, like the EHR, directly into virtual visits,
  • Enabling natural language processing for voice dictated notes and recommending tasks to be pushed into the EHR,
  • AI/Bot driven configuration of virtual visits,
  • Managing and configuring a virtual waiting room,
  • Enabling post-visit triggers and notifications to clinicians and care team members.

From the moment the surgeon enrolls a patient, Andor Health’s AI and bot driven experience navigates providers through a simple and effective wizard-based onboarding that quickly allows organizations to enable virtual consultations.

“We have taken great care to develop one of the world’s leading virtual health experiences and paid special attention to integrating it into clinical systems,” says Raj Toleti, CEO of Andor Health. “Eliminating abandonment rates and saving care teams valuable time are keys to improving the quality of all patient interactions. Andor is proud to partner with Microsoft to offer this premier virtual health experience and configurator that will be impactful for Mentor’s customers.”

Patty Obermeier, Vice President, US Health and Life Sciences, Microsoft Corp. said, “Our collaboration with Andor and Mentor brings together the expertise of empowering experiences for clinicians with the power of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Teams and Azure Cognitive services. Integrating Azure AI and bot capabilities with the ThinkAndor platform will enable a streamlined experience and personalization between patient and provider improving care delivery and healthcare outcomes.”

Andor Health Delivers Guaranteed Compliance with New CMS Patient Access Regulations for Customers Using ThinkAndor™ Platform
Data Shows Early Customers Achieve Immediate Full Compliance with US and Florida Rules by Automating Mandated Connections with Community Primary Care Providers, Specialists

ORLANDO, Florida – September 10, 2020 – Andor Health, the company that harnesses machine and human intelligence to change the way care teams connect and collaborate, announces that the ThinkAndor™ collaboration platform has already made customers successfully compliant with new patient access regulations. Customers using ThinkAndor are achieving compliance with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) Event Notifications Conditions of Participation, as well as the recently enacted Florida Bill CS/HB-843, and are realizing meaningful results. Customers implement ThinkAndor in as little as four weeks, at which time they fully automate the connections with patients’ primary care providers (PCPs) and guarantee full compliance to the regulations.

Currently, coordination between hospitals and specialists and primary care physicians is a manual and oftentimes labor-intensive process that is not sustainable in the face of the new regulations, even though over 45 percent of admitted patients ask for their PCPs to be consulted. The ADT Event notification Conditions of Participation requires healthcare organizations to electronically share data from major patient events, such as admission, discharge and transfer, with providers. Moreover, Florida CS/HB-843 also states hospitals must inform the patient about the right to request the hospital’s treating physician to consult with the patient’s PCP or specialist.

ThinkAndor from Andor Health guarantees full compliance with these laws quickly and easily by enabling providers to achieve the following:

  • Automating the workflow for delivering patient hospital event notifications to PCPs and specialists, reducing manual, administrative processes
  • Helping health systems reduce the rates of readmissions
  • Significantly increasing the amount of successful transitions of care, or follow-up visits with PCPs after a discharge
  • Reducing redundant testing, length of stay, and overall cost
  • Simplifying clinician workflows so physicians and nurses can focus on caring for patients

Forward-looking organizations, like Lakeland Regional Health, have already moved aggressively and achieved full compliance using the platform.

“The new compliance regulations provide an opportunity to improve patient care dramatically by increasing coordination among providers, but they also represent a challenge to come into compliance quickly,” said Raj Toleti, CEO of Andor Health. “Andor Health is proud to help organizations achieve full compliance while moving them away from manual workflows and towards an automated future.”

Florida Health Providers See Immediate Success with Compliance

With Florida passing CS/HB-843 well ahead of the May 1, 2021 effective date of the ADT Conditions of Participation, hospitals in the state have a more urgent need to come into compliance. Lakeland Regional Health has already implemented ThinkAndor to automate the notification of PCPs. The result has been total success in keeping primary care providers informed, and consulted where needed, in every step of the patient journey, and increased patient and PCP satisfaction. Results include:

  • Full Compliance Attained: Since implementing ThinkAndor, Lakeland Regional Health has exceeded required regulations for ADT notifications
  • Speed to Implementation: ThinkAndor took only four weeks to be fully up and running
  • Notifications are Reaching Primary Doctors: Lakeland Regional Health realized a success rate of 80 percent or greater across all communication notifications, from consultation, to admission, to discharge, to discharge summary
  • All Communication Preferences Accommodated: Success rates for primary care provider notifications are consistent whether the preferred method of outreach is email, text, or fax. While the majority of communication has been by fax, providers at Lakeland Regional Health have converted approximately half of notifications to email or text

“As an essential healthcare provider for our community, it is important that Lakeland Regional Health continues to find efficient ways to enhance care and share patient information with primary care providers,” said Ana M. Kalman, MBA, CHCIO, Lakeland Regional Health Vice President, Chief Information Officer/Chief Applications Officer and Medical Center Chief Operating Officer. “Given the success of Andor Health’s platform, we elected to expand our community provider engagement and leverage the system to send additional information that providers have been requesting.”

  • Regular, automated contract tracing and exposure reporting
  • Integration with HR and workforce management systems

“As employers begin preparing for the ‘new normal’ in this pandemic era, it is vital that organizations are taking decisive action to protect patrons, employees and vendor partners. “In order to more fully reopen safely, we have an obligation to our employees and Members alike to ensure they remain healthy as they resume activities,” said Wayne Sheffield, President and General Manager, Isleworth Golf and Country Club. “We cannot even think about approaching this ‘new normal’ without a way to handle the constant testing, self-assessments, vital communications, and reporting needed to support everyone through this process. ThinkAndor was easy to implement and helps us run all aspects of this re-opening smoothly.”

Andor Health Delivers a New Template in Microsoft Teams to Safeguard Frontline Healthcare Workers in the Global Battle Against COVID-19

ThinkAndor™ delivers real-time alerts, configures video screenings for patients, and enables real-time care team collaboration across the enterprise during the coronavirus pandemic.

ORLANDO, Florida - April 27, 2020 – Andor Health is building on Microsoft Teams to provide a unified, integrated crisis communications and care team collaboration platform to help mitigate risks for frontline healthcare workers in the battle against the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The ThinkAndor™ mobile platform enables healthcare institutions to strengthen their crisis communications and operationalize COVID-19 treatment and quarantine protocols to protect frontline healthcare workers and patients. Powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, video and voice technology, the ThinkAndor platform enables care team members to quickly configure collaboration sessions via secure messaging, voice, and video on Microsoft Teams with patients and care team members.

“We are incredibly excited that partners like Andor Health are stepping up and building on Microsoft Teams to provide the communication and collaboration tools to help healthcare providers and first responders in the battle against COVID-19,” said Mike Ammerlaan, Senior Director, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Corp. The ThinkAndor platform integrates with all major electronic medical record (EMR) systems and drives intelligent configuration and collaboration within the Microsoft Teams environment, providing frontline healthcare workers and patients with real-time and virtual crisis communications and collaboration to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Using the Andor platform, healthcare institutions can also deliver important COVID-19 education programs to employees and patients. Additionally, organizations can easily configure and activate signals from all EMRs and other source systems to drive specific clinical and operational workflows. For example, organizations can broadcast alerts with ThinkAndor to notify entire care teams whenever a patient or healthcare worker in a facility tests positive for the COVID-19 virus. Then, the Andor platform can automatically deliver instructions for testing to those doctors, nurses or other healthcare workers who may have been exposed.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated clear communication gaps among key healthcare stakeholders,” said Raj Toleti, CEO of Andor Health. “Patients, clinicians and staff members need automated, real-time communications about testing options, critical diagnostic results, operational changes, and virtual collaboration. The ThinkAndor platform provides healthcare institutions with predefined notifications that can be quickly enabled in Microsoft Teams. NIH Accelerates Clinical Research Team Collaboration and Communication
Andor Health Platform to Accelerate Clinical Research Team Collaboration and Communication at National Institutes of Health

Andor Health’s ThinkAndor™ platform to push critical notifications to NIH Clinical Center teams, providers and patients, while increasing overall operational efficiency.

ORLANDO, Florida– April 08, 2020 – Andor Health announces that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center will deploy the ThinkAndor™ mobile platform to improve overall clinical research team collaboration and communication.

The NIH Clinical Center is one of the 27 NIH institutes and centers on the frontlines of global medical research and discovery of new therapies to prevent and treat diseases such as cancer, COVID-19, diabetes, hepatitis, and HIV/AIDS. The NIH Clinical Center has about 1,600 clinical research studies in progress.

The NIH Clinical Center will implement the ThinkAndor™ mobile care team collaboration platform to push critical signals from electronic medical record (EMR) and patient engagement systems to help streamline and simplify clinical operational workflows for clinical studies. For example, the NIH will use ThinkAndor to deliver real-time notifications such as COVID-19 education, screenings and configurable emergency notifications to staff and patients.

“Andor Health is extremely proud to partner with the prestigious National Institutes of Health Clinical Center,” said Andor Health President Marlin Hutchens. “Our ThinkAndor mobile platform will deliver critical, real-time notifications to NIH research teams, care providers and clinical trial subjects to enhance overall operational efficiency and clinical care team collaboration and communication.”

Prepare for Full Compliance With Key Provisions in Federal Interoperability and Health Data Exchange Rules
Andor Health Customers are Already Prepared for Full Compliance With Key Provisions in Federal Interoperability and Health Data Exchange Rules

ThinkAndor™ mobile platform ensures full compliance with HHS interoperability regulations that align with similar Florida legislation passed in 2019, protecting providers’ Medicare eligibility.

ORLANDO, Florida - March 12, 2020 – Thanks to Andor Health’s ThinkAndor™ mobile collaboration platform, two major Florida health systems are prepared to comply with new Conditions of Participation (CoP) provisions within the interoperability rules issued Monday by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), thereby protecting their Medicare eligibility.

Issued Monday by HHS’ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), among other requirements, the new regulations require hospitals to send electronic patient event notifications of patients’ admissions, discharges, and any transfers (ADT) to other healthcare facilities and to other community providers. To maintain Medicare eligibility, the CMS rule states that providers are required to comply with the new rules by September 9, 2020. State and federal Medicare and Medicaid programs are the nation’s largest healthcare payers.

“These historic regulations are driving health system leaders to rethink their overall interoperability strategy, resulting in a greater focus on directly managing valuable last-mile connections to community physician and post-acute care facility electronic medical record (EMR) systems,” said Aneesh Chopra, former Chief Technology Officer of the United States during the Obama Administration. “While some organizations will continue to trust partners, such as state health information exchanges (HIEs), to manage the delivery of event notifications, I’m hopeful more providers will turn to new enabling technologies like Andor Health’s ThinkAndor platform to both ensure guaranteed compliance and enable broader clinical engagement to drive more coordinated care.”

Florida health systems among a tiny minority of nation’s providers ready to comply

“Florida health systems like Orlando Health and Lakeland Regional Healthcare are well ahead of the game in complying with the HHS interoperability rules,” said Andor Health President Marlin Hutchens. “These forward-thinking healthcare organizations have already moved aggressively to comply with similar state regulations in Florida – known as House Bill 843 – by implementing the ThinkAndor platform.”

“Florida HB-843 and the new CMS/ONC Interoperability rules for electronic patient event notifications are pushing us to think differently about how we engage with our clinician community,” said Novlet Mattis, Orlando Health Chief Information Officer. “Our partnership with Andor not only guarantees compliance, but it also enables last-mile connectivity to community clinicians. The Andor platform will be an essential component of our strategy beyond our HIE and clinical communication systems to comply with these state and federal regulations.”

Orlando Health and Lakeland Regional Healthcare are among a small minority of the nation’s providers prepared to comply with the new rules. A recent Accenture survey found that only 5% of healthcare CIOs believe their provider organizations are very prepared for the new rules.

“The healthcare industry’s lack of readiness is understandable,” Hutchens added. “Current methods fall short of meeting the intent and letter of the regulations. Only providers that pay to participate in HIEs would receive patient event notifications. Currently, HIEs are unable to gather discharge and transfer data. And finally, these approaches don’t close the loop with patients.”

Care team coordination critical in the midst of today’s global coronavirus crisis

Care team coordination, especially with community providers across disparate EMR systems, is a clear gap in the industry today. “Doctors are forced to provide care with an incomplete clinical picture, especially at a time when the healthcare system could be under stress with the handling of the COVID virus, the urgent need for coordinated care could not be clearer,” CMS Administrator Seema Verma said Monday.

With ThinkAndor, clinician users can collaborate within secure channels that offer streamlined views of critical information relevant to patient care. Clinicians can also use AI-based voice commands, such as “ThinkAndor, send me my discharged patient list,” to quickly access content. AI-enabled voice commands can also be used to configure workflows and curate relevant notifications and required actions.

Andor Health Launches its ThinkAndor™ Application in Microsoft Teams, Helping Hospitals Maintain Timely Patient Care

New Integration with Microsoft Teams will Improve Care Team Collaboration for Healthcare Providers.

ORLANDO, Fla., March 6, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Andor Health today announced the availability of ThinkAndor™ with Microsoft Teams integration, available now in Microsoft AppSource, an online store for business applications.

"Andor Health's collaboration with Microsoft builds on the marketplace momentum of Microsoft Teams and ThinkAndor to deliver the definitive care team collaboration suite for healthcare providers," said Pritesh Patel, Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Strategy Officer for Andor Health. "By combining the power of Teams and Microsoft Azure with the ThinkAndor clinical collaboration platform, we're making it easier than ever for healthcare professionals to coordinate care, so they can deliver better patient health outcomes with reduced clinician burnout."

Andor Health is making its ThinkAndor clinical communication application available for Teams, a unified hub for the workplace that brings together chat, video meetings, calling and file sharing. "We are pleased to work with partners who are innovating around care team collaboration and bringing their applications together with Microsoft Teams," said Kristina Behr, General Manager, Office for Healthcare, Microsoft Corp. "Ultimately, this helps our customers achieve the goals of efficient, compliant clinician communication and reduced administrative tasks."

Orlando Internal Medicine, a comprehensive practice spanning the care continuum, recently joined the growing number of provider organizations adopting the ThinkAndor platform, including Canopy Health, Orlando Health, Proliance Surgeons, and Lakeland Regional Health.

"We're excited about leveraging the power of Microsoft Teams with the ThinkAndor mobile app," said Pradeep K. Vangala, MD, a board-certified Internist and Founder of Orlando Internal Medicine who is affiliated with multiple area hospitals, including AdventHealth Orlando. "We believe empowering new levels of care team collaboration and workflow efficiency are important steps we can take to address the underlying causes of widespread clinician burnout and stress in healthcare today."

For every hour spent in direct patient care, doctors spend approximately two hours on administrative tasks such as excessive electronic health record (EHR) data entry and documentation, contributing to high rates of burnout and stress, according to research. In a recent survey reported in The Wall Street Journal , 42% of physicians reported feeling some form of burnout.

Andor Health's ThinkAndor unlocks data stored in EHRs and puts it to use to provide care teams with real-time access to meaningful and actionable information through the trusted Microsoft cloud platform – both inside and outside the health system.

Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and voice and natural language processing technology, ThinkAndor identifies keywords and other critical health content in physicians' conversations and automatically recommends notes and triggers that can be added to patient charts following a provider consult call or other communication.

Proliance Surgeons Selects Andor Health to Meet Critical Need for Enhanced Mobile Care Team Communication and Collaboration

ORLANDO, Florida – March 3rd, 2020 – Andor Health today announced that Proliance Surgeons, one of the nation’s largest multispecialty surgical practices, has signed a contract to deploy the ThinkAndor™ mobile care team collaboration platform to make it easier for physicians, nurses and care teams to collaborate across multiple facilities and care settings.

“Proliance Surgeons annually treats more than 650,000 patients at more than 100 care centers in Washington state,” said Mark Barnhart, CEO of Proliance Surgeons. “Given the huge volume of patients we help, every minute of every day counts. ThinkAndor should enable our clinicians and staff to spend less time on unnecessary tasks and have more time for taking care of patients. The system will also proactively notify front-office staff of missing patient information that would result in a schedule delay or procedure cancellation. As a result, we anticipate an improvement in patient and physician satisfaction, as well as a decrease in canceled appointments.”

ThinkAndor delivers critical, context-sensitive intelligence from disparate electronic medical record (EMR) systems across multiple care settings, enabling real-time, mobile clinical team collaboration. ThinkAndor continually surveils all of the signals across these systems, and pushes critical intelligence to providers just in time. Providers will now have a single view of relevant information, regardless of EMR or care setting.

“Andor Health is proud to partner with Proliance Surgeons to improve care team communication and collaboration across its high-volume surgical practice,” said Marlin Hutchens, President of Andor Health. “With ThinkAndor, their physicians and staff can now personalize workflows and messages from EMRs so they receive only the signals they use to provide care, resulting in increased operational efficiency and care capacity.”

"ThinkAndor provides our physicians with a single, unified view of patients for clinical team collaboration across all care settings,” said Pradeep K. Vangala, MD, Founder of Orlando Internal Medicine, a comprehensive physician practice providing care for a large volume of patients across ambulatory, acute-care, long-term acute care and skilled nursing facilities.

Currently, Orlando Internal Medicine’s physicians and staff are spending hours of their day manually communicating with other care team members and tracking patients as they transition from one care facility to another using different electronic medical record (EMR) systems at each facility.

“With ThinkAndor, we are anticipating an overall 60% reduction in work effort required to view critical information, resulting in increased clinical care capacity, reduced physician burnout and improved outcomes for patients,” added Dr. Vangala, who also serves as Chair of Internal Medicine at AdventHealth Orlando, Medical Director of Select Specialty Hospitals in Orlando and Regional Medical Director for Select Specialty Hospital System.

Primary care doctors spend approximately two hours on administrative tasks, such as excessive EHR data entry and documentation, for every hour spent in direct patient care, contributing to high rates of burnout and stress, according to research.

“We have selected ThinkAndor to help us reduce no-shows through better care team collaboration in our outpatient centers, resulting in increased operational efficiency and improved patient and staff satisfaction,” said Srinivas Seela, MD, a board-certified Internist and Gastroenterologist with the Digestive and Liver Center of Florida.

Powered by artificial intelligence and voice technology, the ThinkAndor platform delivers critical, context-sensitive intelligence from disparate EMR systems across multiple care settings. ThinkAndor continually monitors all the signals across EMR systems, pushing actionable intelligence to clinicians just in time. As a result, clinicians have access to a single view of relevant patient information, regardless of EMR or care setting, enabling real-time mobile care team collaboration across the continuum of care.

“We are pleased to support Orlando Internal Medicine’s efforts to improve care team collaboration across the continuum of care while reducing administrative burdens on doctors so they can spend more time providing quality care for patients,” said Marlin Hutchens, President of Andor Health.

Orlando Health Implements Andor Health's Mobile Communication Platform to Extend Real-Time Care Team Collaboration Outside its Network

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 13, 2020 Orlando Health will deploy ThinkAndor™, Andor Health's mobile communication technology to enable comprehensive, real-time care team collaboration beyond the walls of its enterprise.

The project is another step in Orlando Health's overall strategy to improve the patient experience by reducing care gaps and strengthening communications between clinicians inside and outside of its network.

Andor Health

"We are transforming every touch point in the customer experience across the continuum of care," said Novlet Mattis, Chief Information Officer, Orlando Health. "The objective of this partnership is to reduce burdensome processes and enable greater collaboration among clinicians. The innovative ThinkAndor platform from Andor Health will extend our comprehensive health records (CHR) system, which we're launching next summer, to facilitate mobile information sharing so physicians and nurses can focus even more on caring for every patient."

Orlando Health will also utilize ThinkAndor to automate the notification of primary care providers (PCP) within 24 hours of patient admission and the delivery of discharge summaries to those PCPs as required by House Bill 843, a Florida law that went into effect on July 1, 2019.

"Andor Health is proud to partner with Orlando Health to improve clinical workflow efficiency and physician engagement," said Marlin Hutchens, President of Andor Health. "Our ThinkAndor solution will allow the more immediate, omnichannel exchange of information to drive better care team collaboration while ensuring regulatory compliance."

Partners with Andor Health to Strengthen Provider Collaboration and Meet New Regulatory Requirements
Lakeland Regional Health Partners with Andor Health to Strengthen Provider Collaboration and Meet New Regulatory Requirements with Real-Time Actionable Intelligence

ORLANDO, Florida – December 10, 2019 – Lakeland Regional Health, a large healthcare system in Central Florida, teamed up with Andor Health to implement secure care team coordination technology to meet new regulatory requirements and enable better physician collaboration inside and outside its enterprise.

The project will allow the Tampa Bay healthcare system to comply with new regulations under Florida's House Bill 843 aimed at strengthening care team coordination and improving quality outcomes. Enacted on July 1, 2019, the new legislation requires hospitals to notify patients' primary care providers within 24 hours of admission to their facilities. It also allows patients to request the hospital's treating physician to consult with their primary care provider or specialist provider.

For large health systems like Lakeland, complying with Florida's new real-time provider and patient communication and documentation regulations has become especially burdensome.

"As part of our regulatory compliance with HB-843, we conducted an extensive evaluation of all our existing health information technology solutions," said Kristi Yamilkoski, Assistant Vice President, Information Services, of Lakeland Regional Health. "We concluded that none of our current solutions would meet these new provider communication needs. After an extensive search of the market, we decided to partner with Andor Health because it offered the only solution robust enough to meet new regulatory requirements with a 100% guarantee of compliance."

"We are pleased to announce the first of several partnerships that will establish our leadership position in the clinical team collaboration technology space," said Marlin Hutchens, President of Andor Health. "Lakeland Regional has chosen Andor Health to achieve 100% guaranteed regulatory compliance with Florida's HB-843, while strengthening care team coordination and reducing physicians' burdensome workloads."

Lakeland Regional will utilize ThinkAndor™ to unlock the data stored in their electronic medical records (EMR) and put it to use in real-time to enable care team collaboration, inside and outside of the enterprise. Andor Health's ThinkAndor also automates the process of providing the discharge summary and medical records to the PCP within 14 days after the patient's discharge from the hospital as required by Florida law.

About Lakeland Regional Health

Not-for-profit Lakeland Regional Health reaches beyond its hospital walls to promote wellness, education and discovery in new places and new ways, providing a wide range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services at its Medical Center, Hollis Cancer Center and ambulatory care locations. Lakeland Regional Health has earned Most Wired Advanced and Most Wired status four times since 2013 from the American Hospital Association and has earned workplace awards from Forbes, Gallup and Becker's Hospital Review. Its 864-bed comprehensive tertiary referral hospital, Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, operates the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, its Level II Trauma Center, and the Bannasch Institute for Advanced Rehabilitation Medicine.
